Anonymous asked: What are your thoughts on occupy wall street?
I think it’s an opinion. New v. Old.
Why do some get angry at people when they say that they are upset? There are uninformed and angry people on both sides, but universally a call for change is a cry for help, or plea for peace, not a thing to be poked fun at.
I think it was the 5th of November, one of the bigger protest days and I was in the city and the show of force was downright frightening. Hippies don’t wear riot masks. And they don’t keep you from walking off the sidewalk. I watched 4 helicopters hover above me for about 8 minutes. like, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN! LETS GET IT ON TAPE! Very sensationalist, and very provocative. The hundreds of officers can argue that they prevented something there, but I feel, like the military, too many are being paid in the name of fear and not in the honest name of protection.
This is America, so we can either act like it, and be a nice example of practicing what we preach with civil liberties, or we can anticipate a slow or not so slow decent into having no freedoms to speak of. Constitutionally, saying “no” to Occupy Wall Street is wrong, despite its more annoying members. Take legal action, but don’t make excuses like “we have to clean” because you want to break people’s stuff and threaten the press.
I just think our founding fathers would have underlined freedom of speech for all rather than amended pepper spray as a basic police officer right. Hater’s goin hate, but we could also all show compassion. Remember?
